Parabens & Sodium Laureth Sulfate in Baby Products
author
I have always tried to avoid colourings and perfumes in my skincare products but until recently I had no idea what parabens, formaldehyde and sodium laureth sulfate was. When I began to search for information on these ingredients I was appalled. To think that we use products every day to clean our homes and our skin are packed full of these ingredients. I just can’t believe that most people are unaware of the effects these ingredients have on the skin.
To think that I was using baby products which we full of sodium laureth sulfate, parabens, colourings and perfumes thinking that they would be even more gentle on my skin and my children’s skin. I now check out exactly what is in my skincare products before I buy them.

I am very concerend about ingredients in skincare. As someone who has very sensitive skin, I am limited to what I can use eg I cant use fake tan or most shower gels/shampoos. I had always assumed that it was just my skin and there was nothing I could do about it, but then I was informed that I was probably reacting to something in my skincare products. I started researching was an outraged to find out that cheap ingredients (even in the most expensive brands) were damaging the lipid content in my skin which was causing the dryness and itching and even worse, some ingredients have been found in breast cancer tissue (phthalates). Sodium Laureth Sulfate is particularly bad for this and is used in anything that foams even floor cleaner and car degreaser!! There are products out there that are free from many of these nasties. You have a choice, demand chemical safe products and stop lining the pockets of large companies that put profit over safety.
